One of the most common complaints clients have in regards to their flooring is related to humidity, either too much or in the winter not enough. Too much humidity will cause damage to your engineered hardwood, solid hardwood and even laminate floor.
As these materials are all wood base products they tend to absorb a lot of moisture form the air quite quickly and will expand, this is a natural reaction.
If there isn’t enough moisture in the air, like in the winter, this will cause the floor to shrink leaving caps in the floor. This is why it is important to maintain a range of 40 to 60% relative humidity all year round.
This will help to keep that floor stable and avoid any damage that can be caused by irregular moisture levels. We also suggest looking into the manufacture warranty which can be found on their respective websites.
