Whether or not engineered hardwood can be refinished will depend on two things, the quality of the Engineered hardwood flooring and the method of its installation. If the existing engineered hardwood isn’t very good in terms of quality this means it typically will not have enough material in the veneer to take a sanding.
Also if the engineered hardwood is installed in a floating application which means it is not physically attached to the sub-floor you can not sand it. As the floor is not attached to anything and is “floating” this means the floor will vibrate a lot during the sanding process and will leave the flooring looking uneven and shattered.
